Archeologists are mooting that Chester was the Arthurian site of the Round table.
This is entirely plausible as most of the twelve battles linked with the historical 'Arthur' were in the North.
The Chester amphitheatre could seat 1000 people, the average size of a professional Dark Age War band. The Gildean reference to a martyrs shrine is also convincing.
